AIMHO Program Committee

2018 Call For Programs Information

For information about the 2018 Call For Programs for presentation at AIMHO 2018 in Tempe, AZ, please click here.

About the Program Committee

The Program Committee is a unique opportunity to serve the region through creating platforms for learning, collaborating, and networking.  The core of the work takes place in preparation for the annual conference in November with some committees beginning their work as early as January the year of the conference.

Utilizing member surveys, the regional institutional survey, and various others forms of feedback, the committee works to provide opportunities for engagement during and outside of the annual conference.  This will be a future area of focus and consideration for the committee.

Through the use of technology, the Program Committee is no longer required to attend the AIMHO Summer meeting.  Processes have been put in place to allow committee members to access information and connect through a shared storage source and through quarterly conference calls.

  • Due to the demanding pre-conference schedule, members of the Programming Committee are not able to participate in pre-conference workshops such as AIMHO College and the SHO Institute.

Sub-Committee Opportunities

Call for Programs

This group starts their work shortly after the annual conference. They prepare the submission form, market to the region for individuals to give back by presenting, and "shoulder-tapping" individuals to present in the New Professional and Mid-Level track. This subcommittee works with the webmaster and Senior Member-At-Large.

Newcomers Orientation

This group helps to transition new staff to the region (not just new professionals) to the region and conference. This sub-committee works closely with the New Member-at-Large and the Diversity and Social Justice committee. A new element has been the creation of an Orientation video used to better prepare new participants prior to arriving to the November conference. In addition, this subcommittee also introduces and awards the AIMHO Star Award for those who did deep and complete all of the engaging tasks required for completion.

AIMHO Connections

This subcommittee works to take the transition of new professionals to the region one step farther by creating an opportunity for "connectors"- those who have attended AIMHO previously to welcome "connectees" to the conference.  This includes sharing experiences, insights, who's-who, and why we love AIMHO. This experience is right after the orientation and extends throughout the time of the conference.

Case Study

This group of critical thinkers write the case study for the conference.  They market the case study option, select the judges, and set the stage for the case study groups.

Liaisons

A liaison from the Program Committee is assigned to each program session.  The Liaison sub-committee is responsible for framing the outreach to the presenters before the conference.  This committee works closely with the Host committee regarding any last minute changes to the overall programs. This sub-committee also coordinates the Call for Volunteers to be program liaisons during the conference and oversee the Volunteer Orientation at the conference.

Evaluations

Evaluations are submitted electronically through the Guidebook application. This will help the conference to be more sustainable and eliminate some of the leg work when it comes time to select the Top 6 Programs. In addition, the Evaluation subcommittee will oversee the implementation of the Guidebook app used as our electronic program guide for the annual fall conference.

Awards and Certificates

This subcommittee is charged with the overall organization for our awards for Top 6 programs and Case Study. They work on design of the certificates as well as sending gift cards electronically to our winners (the Programming Committee is committed to staying as "green" as possible).
