Executive Committee

Serving the region as an AIMHO Executive Board member may be one of the highlights of your professional career.  We engage students on our campus to be involved in order to help ensure their success through to graduation and beyond.  The same is true for your professional career.  The connections that you will make through serving the association will be life-long.

Just as we all took our own path to work in Student Affairs, so too are there a variety of paths to being involved in AIMHO.  There is no one right path.  EVERYONE is welcome to engage, be involved, and connect with others in the region.

The 2017 Annual AIMHO Conference will showcase election of Executive Officers at the Business Meeting. Now, more than ever, our association needs brave and creative individuals to step up, work hard, and make a difference. Nominations are now open for leadership roles. Think about those around you, think about those in the region, and think about yourself...Place a nomination today.

Application Requirements:

Candidates for Executive Board Positions must complete the following by the noted deadline:

-          Submit a letter of interest (no more than 500 words) that describes your interest in the Executive Board Position, any experiences relevant to the position, and what you hope to accomplish during your term. 

-          Additionally, submit a letter or e-mail of support from your supervisor

-          Submit a photo (headshot) to be included with your letter of interest. 


Materials must be emailed to Jeff Rosenberry ( ) by Friday, October 27, 2017 by 5pm.  Officers will be elected at the AIMHO Business Meeting.   


Position Descriptions:


President Elect: If the President is unable to perform the duties of the office, the President-elect shall complete the term of the President and then serve the next succeeding term as President, followed a final year as Past-President (3 year term). In addition, the President-Elect shall perform duties which include but are not limited to the following:

a)       serves as a member of the executive committee

b)      assumes duties of the President in the President’s absence

c)       serves as liaison to the Program and Awards and Recognition Committees

d)      updates and publishes a directory of all Association members

e)      recruits members

f)        attends annual conference

g)       attends executive committee meetings

h)      works with the Senior Level Member-at-Large to select State and Provincial Representatives

i)        coordinates orientation meeting of new executives and chairs


Secretary: The Secretary serves a two year term as the chief information officer for the association. This includes taking historical minutes and ensuring proper custodial duties of all association documents. In addition, the Secretary shall perform duties which include but are not limited to the following:

a.      Serve a two year term with eligibility to be re-elected for another two year term.

b.     Serves as a member of the executive committee;

c.      Serves as the custodian of Association documents and records, carries on all necessary correspondence, and prepares and distributes Association stationary;

d.     Prepares minutes of all meetings and records, transcribes, and distributes a summary of the annual conference and business meeting minutes to all member institutions;

e.      Prepares, manages, and updates the database and distributes the regional directory.

f.      Corresponds with various Association constituencies.

g.     Serves as a liaison to the Marketing Committee


Member at Large-Entry Level: This is a bi-annually elected member of the executive board. The qualifications for the position (per By Laws Article III.Section 2. h) are: The New Member-At- Large shall be elected for a two year term on alternating years from the Senior Member-At- LargeThe New Member-At-Large must be an entry-level person with three or fewer years of full-time campus housing experience in order to be eligible for the role.” In addition, the Entry Member at Large shall perform duties which include but are not limited to the following:

a)     serves as a member of the executive committee;

b)     plans and implements newcomer orientation and welcome at the annual conference in

conjunction with the Program Committee;

c)     encourages participants in Association activities;

d)     serves on the RAppin program committee;

e)     attends the annual conference, and the summer conference;

f)      serves as liaison to AIMHO College committee;

g)     serves as liaison between the members and the executive committee;

h)     contributes to the new professionals page in the Newsletter, and

i)      fulfills all other duties and projects as assigned by the President or the executive committee.


Treasurer-Elect: If the Treasurer is unable to perform the duties of the office, the Treasurer-Elect shall complete the term of the Treasurer (3 year term). In addition, the Treasurer-Elect shall perform duties, which include but are not limited to the following:

a.      Serves as a member of the executive committee;

b.     Observes and assists as needed the treasurer of the Association in the collections and distribution of all funds, and assists in preparing an annual financial statement;

c.      Observes and is aware of Association revenue and bank accounts established and maintained; assists the Treasurer in rendering a report of the treasury at the annual conference business meeting;

d.     Through consultation with the Treasurer, assists the Treasurer as needed in sending dues billings to member institutions by July 1;

e.      Serves as a liaison to a standing committee as assigned by the Executive Committee;

f.      Attends annual conference;

g.     Attends executive committee meetings;

h.     Fulfill all other duties and projects as assigned by the President or the executive committee.
