Our schedule will focus on five main topics:

  • Being an effective leader isn’t easy. “Be a Leader” sessions will focus on the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to be an impactful leader to your fellow students. Example topics: how to program or implement curriculum, how to build relationships with residents, or efficient ways to complete administrative tasks.
  • Being aware of social justice topics or global events and understanding how to navigate them in our diverse world helps us better serve our residents and community. “Be Aware” sessions focus on special topics that help student leaders connect with our world and our residents on important topics. Example topics: Black Lives Matter on campus, Sexual assault awareness, or contributing to an ecofriendly campus community.
  • How can student leaders grow beyond their current housing roles and show investment in other areas of campus or their community? “Be Invested” sessions will be geared toward helping student leaders take those next steps in leadership. Example topics: engaging with campus organizations, finding leaderships roles outside of housing, connecting with our city.
  • To take care of others, we must take care of ourselves. “Be Healthy” sessions focus on ways student leaders can stay balanced and healthy in their lives. Example topics: time management, physical wellness, or stress management.
  • Developing relationships with our peers across the state is an exciting way to continue your growth as a student leader even after URAD has ended. Our “Be Connected” session will provide structured time for participants to start creating these important relationships.

We will also host an Advisor Track throughout the day. These sessions are hosted for advisors by advisors and not only help us build skills, but also connects to our state-wide colleagues. They may focus on any aspect of the professional and personal experience of a housing professional. Example topics: ART Sessions, how to manage effective 1:1s, planning for the next professional steps.

Sessions will be presented by URAD attendees and advisors from around the state. We encourage all delegations to propose topics for sessions. Program proposals are currently open and are due by Friday, March 22. Please continue to the bottom of the page to Propose a Program.
