The AIMHO 2020 Virtual Conference is an opportunity for the AIMHO region to come together virtually to form & continue connections, discuss current challenges, and confront systemic oppression in our practice and on our home institutions. Through roundtables, recorded sessions, live presentations, social & professional networking opportunities, and more, AIMHO 2020 will empower you to reframe your practice, becoming an ally, accomplice, and anti-racist. The Host Committee invites you to join us in setting the tone for our intermountain region moving forward!

AIMHO Members can register for the low rate of $10 per registrant (just make sure to sign-in or create an account first!), and for non-members the cost is still only $20. Our welcome guests from the NWACUHO region can also register for only $10!

While there will be opportunities to connect prior to the conference, discuss what you have learned later with colleagues, and view all content afterwards, we hope everyone will join us synchronously November 10-13! These dates will include our keynote, case study, annual business meeting, awards announcements, and more!

Patrice M. Palmer

AIMHO Conference topic: Kindness is NOT enough: Creating and Empowering Anti-racist Educators and Leaders

Pre-Conference topic: Positionality vs Authenticity: Leadership is more than a title

Patrice M. Palmer (they/them/their pronouns) calls both the Sea Islands of South Carolina and Detroit, Michigan home. Patrice holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and Master’s degree in Social Justice from Marygrove College. They are a doctoral candidate in the School of Education at Baylor University where their work revolves around gender variance, workplace inclusion, intersectional leadership, organizational change, social responsibility, curriculum integration and inclusive pedagogy/andragogy. Their career centers equity, diversity and inclusion within higher education intentionally focusing on the concept of intersectional leadership within organizational structures. Patrice’s 2020 TEDx talk “Are you a Man or Woman…I’m BLACK” has been widely praised as an excellent cohesion of inclusionary social-cultural identity. They are the co-author of the 2019 ACPA (American College Personnel Association) highly celebrated book “Debunking the Myth of Job Fit in Higher Education and Student Affairs”, their co-authored chapter “Code Word Fit: Exploring the Systemic Exclusion of Professionals of Color in Predominately White Institutions” showcases their years of experience working in institutions of higher education as a Black, queer, non-binary, transmasculine person and the issues of race, gender inequity and exclusion that followed. At Colorado State University, Patrice serves as the Director of Social and Cultural Inclusion in the College of Business as well as an adjunct faculty member in the College’s beverage institute, graduate and executive leadership programs. In 2019 Patrice joined New Belgium Brewing Company as their inaugural D&I Specialist. That partnership marks the first U.S. craft beer position connected with an AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited business administration role. Currently Patrice serves as the only D&I Specialist in the U.S. craft beer industry with this joint designation. In addition to their hectic work schedule, Patrice has found time to push for sustainable and systemic change in the workplace by igniting their social activism as the CEO and principal consultant of their own consulting firm, eROOT Consulting, LLC; which delivers innovative solutions to engage DEI within SMB companies/organizations and B2B startups. Streaming TV shows is a part of Patrice’s intentional self-care and they enjoy crime series, historical documentaries and has seen every episode of the Golden Girls.
