Hello New Housing Professionals!!!

On behalf of the Association of Inter-Mountain Housing Officers (AIMHO) Executive Board, let me be the first to welcome you to AIMHO.  Under the umbrella of ACUHO-I, AIMHO exists to provide services and activities that promote the advancement of housing and food services for students and staff in institutions of higher education.  AIMHO consists of member institutions from eight states and one Canadian province, and thrives through membership involvement.  Because your institution pays membership dues and is affiliated with the AIMHO region, you are now a member and have access to all rights and privileges that membership entails.

As a new member to the AIMHO region, you might find that you are unaware of all that AIMHO offers and how it can be of use to you.  Included with this letter is an informational brochure about AIMHO.  You can also find more AIMHO resources via the AIMHO website www.aimho.org .  There you will find links to the following information:

AIMHO Angle:  The AIMHO Angle is a quarterly publication produced by the marketing committee.  In each publication you could expect to find information about trends and research in higher education, member school spotlights, as well as news and notes from around the AIMHO region.

AIMHO Membership List
:  This list includes names and contact information of other AIMHO member schools and individuals in an attempt to promote networking and sharing of information across the AIMHO region.

AIMHO Job Placement
:  AIMHO is made up of many schools cover a vast geographical area.  This link provides member schools the ability to announce open positions at their institutions.  The link also allows individuals who are searching for open positions to see if AIMHO institutions have positions that meet their needs.

AIMHO Listserv
:  Stay abreast of current AIMHO issues and trends by subscribing to the AIMHO Listserv.

AIMHO is a people-driven organization that is successful through extensive opportunities to network and share ideas.  Many of these opportunities come through our annual conference.  At each annual conference AIMHO members have the opportunity to network and share ideas through a variety of opportunities.  Some of the many opportunities are listed below:

AIMHO
College:  The AIMHO College is a two day, pre-conference event geared toward educating and providing networking opportunities entry-level professionals, and new professionals to the region.

Program Presentation
:  This opportunity allows AIMHO members to share new information with their colleagues and help our organization grow through shared knowledge and experiences.

Committee Involvement
:  Volunteerism is one of the greatest and most rewarding experiences within AIMHO.  You are encouraged to share your abilities and talents through serving on one of AIMHO’s seven standing committees: Awards and Recognition, Diversity, Marketing, Program, Research, AIMHO College, or Executive Board.  Committee involvement is not limited to those who have attended an annual AIMHO conference, but does require some time commitment to help the organization.

CHO Institute
:  The Chief Housing Officer (CHO) Institute allows prospective CHO’s in AIMHO to learn new skills and concepts from some of the strongest and brightest in our region.
As you can tell, AIMHO is here for you. We are an organization of professionals committed to students, the success of our field, and you!  We hope that you take advantage of many of our great resources as well as have an opportunity to network and interact with many of your colleagues from around our region. I encourage you to ask questions (any questions are welcome!) of me or any other member of the Executive Committee.

Sincerely,

Summer Burke
